Gustav, conceived as a tribute to the TREE OF LIFE, is a central element of a larger mosaic frieze realized by Gustav Klimt between 1905 and 1909 to decorate Stoclet Palace in Bruxelles.
The tree of life represents the cycle of life and the interconnection of everything in the world. It connects the sky with the earth, its branches spread out all along the mosaic frieze.
